Love in Action is the heart of all our ministries at Open Arms; we want everything we do to be an extension and expression of the love that Jesus has for people. The Love in Action ministry is lead by a team of five whose hearts are to show the love of Christ in fun and practical ways to our community. This happens in two ways:
1) practical acts of service that help a person/persons in need
2) fun and simple acts of service that present opportunities for outreach and sharing the gospel.
The team’s job is to plan and organize events for the church family to participate in, giving everyone opportunities to serve at different times. Some examples of Love in Action have been serving free hot chocolate, cookies and caroling during the Christmas Parade, giving out carnations on Mother’s Day, shoveling driveways, cleaning bathrooms at local businesses, having a Love your Neighbor Challenge; simple ways of “getting out there.” These acts of service bond us together as a church family and develop a mindset from the start that we are not a church contained to four walls to be served, but are out in our community to serve.
